Leave early for Tegalalang while the terraces are quiet, then drive east into the Gianyar hills for two waterfalls chosen for swimming rather than steps: Kanto Lampo, where the water fans over rock terraces you can sit on, and Tibumana, a single fall into a calm pool with a short walk in. Lunch at a warung between them. About eight hours with your own driver.
It's the central-Bali day for people who'd rather be in the water than looking at it. Both falls are close to Ubud, have easy paths and real pools, and are far less visited than Tegenungan — you'll often share Tibumana with nobody.
Tegalalang first is deliberate: the terraces are at their best before nine, and by the time the swings and cafés fill up you're already under a waterfall.

Yes at both. Kanto Lampo is more sit-in-the-cascade than swim; Tibumana has a proper pool. Neither is deep enough for jumping.

Tukad Cepung — the one in a cave with the light beam — is 30 minutes further and adds about an hour and a half. Ask and we build it in.

Putu was at the hotel right on time. We had Banyumala with very few people around, then the twin lakes and a slow lunch looking over Jatiluwih. He read the weather and swapped two stops so the walk stayed dry. Exactly the day the page describes.
