The temple in the nutmeg forest at Sangeh, the lake temple at Bedugul, and the cliff-jumping waterfalls at Aling-Aling — a north-Bali day with something for the cautious and something for the brave.
Sangeh first, a grove of giant nutmeg trees around a moss-covered temple with calm macaques, on the road north. Then Ulun Danu Beratan, the temple on Lake Bratan at Bedugul, and lunch by the water. In the afternoon drop down the north side of the mountains to Aling-Aling, where a village guide takes the brave sliding and jumping into the pools below the falls — and the rest of us to the viewpoint. About eight hours with your own driver.
It's the day for a group that can't agree on adventure. The morning is easy — a forest, a temple, a lake — and the afternoon has 5-, 10- and 15-metre jumps for anyone who wants them, with a perfectly good walk and a swim for anyone who doesn't.
Aling-Aling is also the most fun of the north-Bali waterfalls, and the village runs it well: guides, ropes, a clear order of who goes when.

No. Most groups are half jumpers, half watchers. The pools are safe to swim in without jumping, and the viewpoint over the main fall needs no bravery at all.
Kroya is a natural slide, Kembar is 10 m, Pucuk 15 m. The guide shows you where to land and goes first.
Banyumala is 45 minutes closer and has the best swim of the north — say so and the day gets an hour shorter.

Putu was at the hotel right on time. We had Banyumala with very few people around, then the twin lakes and a slow lunch looking over Jatiluwih. He read the weather and swapped two stops so the walk stayed dry. Exactly the day the page describes.
